Freelance copywriter and website content writer for Liverpool businesses

If your website says what you do but nobody finds it, the copy is usually the place to start. As a freelance copywriter and website content writer, I write web pages, blog posts and product descriptions for small Liverpool businesses, researched around what your customers actually type into Google.

What I write

  • Service and location pages. The pages that should bring in enquiries, written around how people search for your service in your part of Liverpool.
  • Blog posts and articles. Answers to the questions customers ask before they buy, each one linked back to the page you want them to land on.
  • Product descriptions. For online shops, written for search and for the person deciding whether to buy. I have written product copy for B&M Stores.
  • Editing and proofreading. If you already have copy, I can tighten it, fix the structure and work keywords in without it reading like keyword stuffing.

How each piece is put together

  1. Find what people search. Before writing anything, I check the terms your customers use, how often they are searched and what Google currently shows for them.
  2. Look at what ranks. The pages already on page one show what Google expects for that search. I match the format and cover what they miss.
  3. Write it for the reader. Plain English, your tone of voice, and a clear next step at the end of every page.
  4. Set it up properly. Title tag, meta description, headings and internal links, so the page can be found and leads somewhere useful.

Who this suits

Trades, shops, salons and independent businesses across Liverpool that want more people finding them on Google, and would rather talk to the person writing the copy than an account manager.

If you need hundreds of articles a month, a larger agency will suit you better, and I will tell you so.

The experience behind it

I have been writing professionally for over a decade: articles for the Liverpool Echo, thousands of pieces for Squawka, product listings for B&M, and years inside digital marketing agencies writing and optimising content across a wide range of sectors.

For First Response Finance, months of data-led optimisation on their main hub page took it from page 4 of Google back to page 1.

Questions people ask

How long does SEO content take to work?

It depends on your site and your competition, so anyone who gives you a fixed date is guessing. New pages on an established site can start appearing in search within weeks. A newer site with few links takes longer, and I will tell you which you are before you spend anything.

What is the difference between SEO copywriting and normal copywriting?

Normal copywriting is written to persuade the person reading it. SEO copywriting does that too, but it starts with research into what people search for, so the page reaches them in the first place. The words, headings and structure are chosen with both the reader and Google in mind.

Does my business need a blog?

Not always. If your customers search for answers before they buy, such as costs, comparisons or how-to questions, a blog gets you in front of them early. If they mostly search for your service plus "near me", your service and location pages matter more. The free mini-audit will tell you which applies to you.

Will you write in my tone of voice?

Yes. I read your current site and anything else you have written, then match how you talk to customers. You see every piece before it goes live.

Can you add the content to my website for me?

Yes, I'm happy to upload the fresh content to your website. We'll discuss this as part of our planning stage.

Do you use AI to write?

AI helps with research and checking. The writing, editing and final say are mine.

Do you work with businesses outside Liverpool?

Yes. I am based in Walton, L9, and most of my work is with Liverpool businesses, but I am happy to work with businesses on the Wirral, across Merseyside and further afield.

What do you need from me to get started?

Your website address and a short description of the work you want more of. Send both through the free mini-audit and I will come back with what I would write first.

Send me your site and I will look at your current copy and tell you honestly what is worth writing first, even if the answer is "not much".
